An I Am Sober alternative with no counter to reset
I Am Sober is the best-known sobriety counter on the App Store. It holds 4.9 stars from 187,734 ratings in the US and has passed 10 million downloads on Google Play. Along with the day count, it has a daily pledge, milestones, a withdrawal timeline written by its users, and a community of people working toward the same goal.
If you are in recovery, the people around you and any program you belong to matter far more than an app. This page answers a narrower question. Some people find that a counter going back to zero after a hard day is the moment they want to give up, and they look for a way of keeping track where the progress stays. Details below were checked on the US App Store, Google Play and the I Am Sober FAQ on 28 September 2026.
What I Am Sober does well
- A sober day tracker and a calculator that shows the money and time you have saved.
- A daily pledge in the morning and a review at night, with notes, to spot what makes a day easier or harder.
- Your reasons, with photos, to remind you why you quit.
- A large community, with milestone stories and, with Sober Plus, private groups that can sit alongside a group like AA, NA or SMART Recovery.
What happens after a relapse
The I Am Sober FAQ explains this plainly. Your current clock starts again from zero and your milestones are recalculated from the new date. Your previous start dates, milestone history, reasons, savings and photos are all kept, and the calendar still shows your whole history.
What I Am Sober costs today
The app is free to use with 2 tracked habits. Sober Plus adds cloud backups, up to 10 tracked habits, the Apple Watch app, groups, supporters, a lock with Face ID or Touch ID, and more. The US App Store lists Sober Plus at $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year, with other periods too, and Google Play lists in-app purchases from $0.99 to $74.99.
Where I Am Sober runs
I Am Sober runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and on Android. It has no Mac or Windows app.
How Reveal the Dream is different
Reveal the Dream has no counter. You pick a photo of what staying sober is for, choose a journey of 7 or 30 days, and the photo starts covered in one piece per day. Each day you check in uncovers a piece.
A hard day leaves that one piece covered. Every piece you already uncovered stays uncovered, and the next day carries on as normal. I wrote more about this in a sobriety tracker with no streak to lose.
Reveal the Dream has no community, no pledge and no withdrawal timeline. If those help you, I Am Sober does them well, and the two can run side by side. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Android, Wear OS and Windows, with a widget that keeps the photo on your home screen or desktop.

When to pick which
Stay with I Am Sober if the community and the daily pledge help you, and you want the milestones other people are sharing.
Try Reveal the Dream if a counter going back to zero makes you want to stop, if a picture of what you are working toward helps more than a number, or if you want it on a Mac or a Windows PC. The free version has no time limit, and App Lock in Premium keeps it private.
