In this category "free" often means three days before a paywall, or a tracker that stops after five habits. Reveal the Dream has a free version with no time limit and no account, and it covers the whole daily habit: a goal, a check-in, a widget and a watch.
How it works
You pick a photo of the thing you are working toward. It starts covered, divided into one piece per day of your journey. Each day you check in, one more piece is uncovered, in the app and on your home screen widget. Miss a day and that piece stays covered, and nothing you already uncovered is taken back.
What the free version includes
- One journey at a time, for as long as you like. When it finishes, start the next one.
- 7 or 30 day lengths.
- The Petals reveal style, the one the app was designed around.
- A home screen widget on iPhone, iPad and Android, a widget on the Mac, and a Windows 11 widget plus an always-on-top mini window on Windows.
- A watch app and complication on Apple Watch and Wear OS.
- A countdown to your next check-in.
- The color of the text over your photo, so it stays readable on a light or a dark picture.
- A backup through your own account on phones. Apple devices keep each other in step through iCloud, and Android backs up through your Google account. The Windows app has no free backup.
- No account. Download it and start.
You can also try the Premium looks on your own journey before deciding anything: the seven cover colors, the Rings and Arcs styles and the cover strength all move freely, and only saving a choice needs Premium.
What Premium adds
Premium is an optional subscription. It adds:
- several journeys at once, and custom journey lengths
- rest days, so the weekdays you take off are never counted as missed
- repeating journeys, so a routine starts its next round on its own
- saving seven cover colors and the Rings and Arcs styles
- your finished journeys as a gallery of photographs, with per-journey results
- an encrypted copy of your journeys that crosses between Apple, Android and Windows
- App Lock, with Face ID, Touch ID, a fingerprint or a password
- today's cover softening as the day goes on
Prices and the full comparison are on the Premium page.
Why the free version is this complete
The point of the app is one photo and one daily check-in, and the free version does that in full. A tracker that only works properly once you pay teaches you to quit it on day four. Premium is for people who want more than one goal running, a schedule with days off, or their journeys on both an iPhone and a Windows PC.
