Loop is one of the most respected habit trackers on Android. It has more than 5 million downloads and 4.7 stars from more than 63,000 reviews on Google Play. It is free, open source under the GPLv3 license, shows no ads, needs no account and keeps your habit data on your phone. There is a lot to like.
The usual reason to look for a Loop Habit Tracker alternative is a new phone. Loop is distributed through Google Play and F-Droid, and its website lists no iPhone version. Details below were checked on Google Play and loophabits.org on 13 September 2026.
What Loop does well
- A habit score. Every repetition makes a habit stronger and every miss makes it a little weaker, so a few missed days after a long run do not wipe out your progress. That is a kinder idea than a plain streak, and Loop had it early.
- Flexible schedules. Three times a week, every other day, or once every other week.
- Widgets and reminders. Check off a habit from the home screen, or straight from its notification.
- Your data, your way. Export to a spreadsheet or a database file whenever you like. Its Google Play listing declares that no data is collected.
Its last Google Play update is dated September 15, 2025. If you are staying on Android and want a free habit list, Loop is hard to argue with.
How Reveal the Dream is different
Loop scores a list of habits. Reveal the Dream follows one goal and draws it as a photo. Pick a picture of what you are working toward, choose a journey of 7 or 30 days, and it starts covered in one piece per day. Each check-in uncovers a piece. It shares Loop’s view of a missed day. Nothing resets. The piece for that day stays covered, and every piece you already uncovered stays where it is.
It also runs on the devices Loop does not: iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, plus Windows, alongside Android and Wear OS. The app needs no account and has no analytics.
If you are moving from Android to iPhone
Be clear about one thing before you start. On the free version, an Android phone backs up through your Google account and Apple devices stay in step through iCloud, and neither one reaches the other. Journeys cross between Android, Apple and Windows with Premium sync. If you start fresh on the new phone, the free version is all you need.

Stay with Loop if you are on Android, you track several habits, and you want an app that is free and open source.
Try Reveal the Dream if you have moved to an iPhone, if you want your goal on a watch, a Mac or a Windows PC, or if one photo of the goal would pull you back each day more than a score.
