A HabitKit alternative that uncovers a photo of your goal

HabitKit gets something right that plenty of habit apps miss: you can see your effort at a glance. Every day you complete a habit fills a colored tile, and a whole year of tiles fits on one screen. It is private, it works offline and it asks for no account. Reveal the Dream is built on a similar instinct, that progress should be something you can look at, and it draws that progress as a photograph of the goal.

Prices and platforms below were checked on the US App Store, Google Play and HabitKit’s own site on 13 September 2026.

What HabitKit does well

  • The grid. A tile per day, grouped by month, so gaps and good runs are both obvious.
  • Flexible goals. Set 5 times a week or 10 times a month, and a rest day inside that goal keeps the streak going.
  • Quit habits. Since August 2026 it can track something you are cutting out, counting your clean days.
  • Widgets. Grids and streaks on the home screen, with check-offs that do not need the app open. On iPhone, its changelog lists widgets as part of Pro.
  • Privacy. No sign-in and no servers. Your data stays on the phone, and the app keeps a week of daily backups on the device.

What HabitKit costs today

HabitKit is free to download, and the free version tracks four habits. HabitKit Pro unlocks unlimited habits, import and export, and restoring archived habits. Its changelog also marks home screen widgets on iPhone and the charts and statistics screen as Pro.

The US App Store lists HabitKit Pro at $1.99 a month, $11.99 a year or $29.99 for life, and also lists lower prices for the same three options. It has 4.8 stars from 2,418 App Store ratings, and 4.6 stars on Google Play with more than 500,000 downloads.

Where it runs

HabitKit is on iPhone and Android. The App Store marks it as an iPhone app, which Apple silicon Macs can also run, and also lists Apple Vision. Its FAQ says cross-device sync is still in development, and that moving Pro between iOS and Android is done by writing to support. There is no Windows version.

How Reveal the Dream is different

A HabitKit grid shows you your calendar. Reveal the Dream shows you the thing you want. Pick a photo of the goal, choose a journey of 7 or 30 days, and the photo starts covered in one piece per day. Each check-in uncovers a piece, in the app and on the widget. See it on your own picture at revealthedream.com/try.

A missed day leaves its piece covered and nothing else moves. There is no streak number to protect, so a bad Tuesday costs you one piece of the picture and the rest of the journey carries on.

It also reaches further than a phone: iPad, Mac and Windows apps, and watch apps on Apple Watch and Wear OS. Apple devices stay in step through your own iCloud for free.

When to pick which

Stay with HabitKit if you want a dozen habits side by side, a low one-time price, or quit habits, and you only use an iPhone or an Android phone.

Try Reveal the Dream if you are chasing one goal and a picture of it would keep you going longer than a grid, or if you want it on a watch, a Mac or a Windows PC. The free version tracks one journey at a time with no time limit, and Premium adds several journeys, custom lengths and rest days.
